Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many guests can The Cottage at Oak Island accommodate?

The Cottage at Oak Island can accommodate up to 12 guests. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the home is especially well suited for families, extended families, and groups traveling together.

2. What are the sleeping arrangements?

The Cottage has four bedrooms: two king primary suites, one queen bedroom, and a bunk room with a twin-over-twin bunk bed and a full-over-full bunk bed. A Pack 'n Play with mattress and sheet is also available for families traveling with babies or toddlers.

3. Is The Cottage a good fit for two families or a multi-generational group?

Yes. The layout works especially well for groups traveling together while still wanting some privacy. The two king primary suites provide comfortable adult accommodations, while the queen bedroom and bunk room offer flexible sleeping options for children, grandparents, or additional adults.

4. How far is The Cottage from the beach?

The Cottage is approximately a 90-second walk from the beach, making it easy to go back and forth throughout the day.

5. What makes The Cottage different from a typical Oak Island beach rental?

The Cottage combines the comfort of a family beach house with a more elevated vacation experience. Built in 2025, the home features high-end finishes, thoughtfully selected furnishings, premium linens, two king primary suites, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and generous gathering spaces. Guests consistently highlight the home's cleanliness, location, comfort, kitchen, and family-friendly setup.

6. Is The Cottage family-friendly?

Yes. The Cottage was designed with families in mind. The home includes a bunk room, Pack 'n Play, beach gear, a well-stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, and easy beach access. Nearby Middleton Park also offers family-friendly amenities and seasonal activities.

7. What beach gear is provided?

Guests have access to beach chairs, boogie boards, beach toys, and other basic beach items. Because individual items may occasionally need to be replaced, please contact us before your stay if a particular piece of beach equipment is important to your plans.

8. Is there a beach wagon or cart?

A beach wagon is not currently a guaranteed amenity. Because the beach is only about a 90-second walk from the house, many guests find it easy to carry beach gear back and forth. If a wagon is important for your family, we recommend bringing or renting one.

9. Are linens, bath towels, and beach towels provided?

Yes. Bed linens, bath towels, and beach towels are included with your stay. The Cottage uses premium OEKO-TEX certified linens and towels.

10. Is the kitchen fully equipped?

16. Is there a grill?

Yes. A charcoal grill is available upon request for a small additional cleaning fee. Guests should bring charcoal and the supplies needed to light it. For safety, the grill must be moved into the driveway before use and may not be operated underneath the house.

17. Can we walk to restaurants, shops, and activities?

Yes. In addition to being approximately 90 seconds from the beach, The Cottage is near restaurants, shops, Publix, and Middleton Park, which offers playgrounds, a splash pad, seasonal events, and the summer farmers and artisans market.

18. What time are check-in and check-out?

Standard check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. When our cleaning and reservation schedule allows, we may be able to accommodate an earlier arrival or later departure, but these options cannot be guaranteed in advance.

19. What happens if a hurricane or severe weather affects my trip?

Our standard cancellation policy applies to weather-related cancellations unless otherwise specified in your booking terms. Guests traveling during hurricane season are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance that includes weather-related trip interruption or cancellation coverage.
